A Paris European Vacation

When it comes to Paris, most people think of it as a romantic city and enjoy the sights and sounds, whether going as a couple or as a single. Traveling alone in Paris is common and you'll run into others who enjoy the romantic sights and sounds, and who knows, you just might meet someone special.

Whether you're traveling as a single, or as a couple the city offers awesome sights and sounds. Although for some, being in a foreign country can be extremely frightening or risky, but if you study ahead of time you'll find there are many public and private transportation available 24 hours a day and all are quite affordable.

Paris transportation and cabs come in several different varieties. The class A taxi or cab is usually the least expensive, class B will cost you more and of course a class C taxi or cab is a luxury cab and is the most expensive of all. Most taxis and cabs are regulated, and the price usually begins between five and €10, so if it's more than that, be suspicious. It's best if you study ahead of time so you know what the charges are going to be and cannot be taken advantage of.

Another way to travel while in Paris is the bus system. Usually you'll find a comprehensive list of bus routes available at your accommodations. If not, feel free to ask and they'll be happy to find the closest bus stop and the routes to take you where you'd like to go. Most routes for public bus systems run Monday to Saturday, although a few might operate on Sundays and holidays as well. Public bus service often runs until midnight, so after that plan on a taxi.

The Paris Metro as well as the RER are also available for public transportation. The nice thing about the Metro is that it's color-coded for convenience and guidance, and the Resseau Express Regional has five lines with alphabetical names A through E and runs from 5 a.m. to 1:10 a.m.

There are also private cars that can be hired to drive you around Paris and the choice is yours as to whether you hire a driver or rent a car. But in order to drive yourself you must have a national drivers license and be at least 21 through 25 years of age according to where you're driving. Be sure to check local laws and make sure all documentation is up to date if you plan on driving in Europe.

There are plenty of ways to travel around Paris whether you're a single or a couple, and whether you take public transportation or drive yourself you're sure to enjoy the sightseeing ability of transportation during your European vacation.
